What is SmartXide2 Fractional

CO2 Laser?

Illumia Medical’s SmartXide2 is an ablative laser - it causes part of the skin to burn off in order for new collagen and new skin to grow.

How is Illumia Medical's SmartXide2 Fractional CO2 Laser Different from Other Lasers?

Traditional carbon dioxide (CO2) lasers tend to be highly ablative, causing profound skin injury and a downtime of 5 to 7 days or more, plus there may be a need for antibiotic medication.

The SmartXide2 technology is a smart system that allows the doctor to control the precise peak power of the laser, so only the required amount of energy is used to treat your skin textural irregularities.

SmartXide2 Fractional CO2 Laser FAQs

Is the SmartXide2 Fractional CO2 Laser safe?

Yes, it is. The SmartXide2 Fractional CO2 Laser treatment is performed by a board-certified doctor, Dr Ong Xiangning. SmartXide2 is a carbon dioxide laser that gives the doctor control over the laser power, so the risk and complications are reduced to the minimum.

Is it painful?

Topical numbing cream will be applied on the areas for treatment to minimise the pain and discomfort. Most patients find the sensation during the SmartXide2 Fractional CO2 Laser treatment tolerable.

What are the side effects and risks?

You'll experience slight redness and swelling right after the treatment. This is perfectly normal since the surface of your skin is "burned" off to stimulate collagen growth and renew your skin. We have LED red light to lessen the redness and swelling. You can expect a "sunburnt" look on the treated areas for 2-3 days, and this is normal too. It is recommended to avoid prolonged and intense sun exposure for the healing to take place quicker.

How long does it take?

Topical numbing cream will be applied and allowed to set for 30 minutes before the treatment to minimise the pain and discomfort. Thereafter, the procedure will take about 15 minutes depending on your condition.

How many sessions will I need?

Patients see visible results after the first session. To see the most satisfactory results, it'd have to depend on your condition. Please consult our medical doctor for a more accurate idea of how many sessions you would need.
