The pico laser is the latest most powerful medical laser technology. It can treat a wide variety of indications for the skin such as rejuvenation, brightening, pigmentation removal, acne, pore minimization, wrinkle reduction and tattoo removal.
Pico technology is based on Selective Photoacoustolysis. Using the speed of sound to pulverize skin pigmentation particles and shatter it into dust fragments.
Before the existence of picosecond lasers, the nanosecond laser was used to treat skin conditions such as sun-induced pigmentation melasma, liver spots, freckles, solar lentigo, ephelides and café au lait spots. Picosecond lasers are an advanced version that is able to emit lightning fast energy pulses in the picosecond range, at an ultrafast speed of 1 trillionth of a second.

Illumia’s pico laser has 4 emission modes and can treat the widest range of indications. Powered by patented Pico-Boost Technology, our Pico Laser has a peak power of 1.8GW, or 0.8J/450ps, for superb penetration depth and fast treatment time.
Dual wavelength pico laser Our pico laser has a double-wavelength source that emits at both 1064nm and 532nm. This means that is can work in Q-switch AND photo-thermal mode, making it the most powerful laser in its class.
For treatment of tattoo removal and pigmented lesions, the pico laser treatment may be stronger powered and slightly painful. This can be mitigated with application of topical numbing cream 30 minutes before the treatment.
The pain experienced is similar to a snap of a rubber band. We apply cooling treatments post-laser to soothe and calm the skin.
Yes it is generally safe.
The treatment is completed in 5 to 10minutes, depending on the size of the treated area and the condition being treated.
Number of sessions I dependent on a few factors such as the patient’s skin colour, density of pigmentation, etc. In general, a course of 5 to 10 sessions at 4 week intervals is recommended.
Apply Illumia’s aftercare cream which will be provided to you. Sunblock will be necessary post-treatment as advised. Makeup should be avoided for the next 3 days.
