Mini Face Lift Singapore

A mini-facelift is a facelift performed through a short incision in a well-hidden region just in front of the ear. Through this incision, the underlying fascia, muscle and ligaments of the face can be accessed, and manoeuvres such as suturing of the submusculo-aponeurotic system (SMAS) or suspension of the tissues (the MACS lift) performed. Some excess skin in that portion of the face can also be tightened.

Who is a suitable candidate?

Individuals with early to moderate signs of ageing, with heavy facial skin and soft tissues, and who require a lasting, natural result are suitable candidates. As the procedure has longevity, there is the ability to avoid multiple office visits for repeat minimally-invasive procedures. However, in cases of severe facial ageing with involvement of the neck tissues, a full face and neck lift may be necessary.

Why is it performed?
The mini-facelift is performed to achieve a significant tightening of the middle and lower face. The incision is made just anterior to the ear lobe, going around the small tragal cartilage and extending upwards into the hairline.
Is it painful?
The procedure is done under local anaesthesia with sedation. Once the local anaesthesia takes effect, there should be no pain, and our team will ensure that you are kept comfortable throughout the procedure.
How is it performed?
The skin is dissected for an appropriate amount to enable visualization of the facial structures that need to be tightened. Upon closure, any excess skin in that area is removed to give a smooth, natural look. The mini-facelift may be combined with facial fat grafting to achieve a more holistic outcome.
How is the recovery?
Post-procedurally there may be slight pain, bruising and swelling, which usually resolve in a couple of weeks. You will be monitored for a short period after the procedure to ensure there are no serious complications such as uncontrolled pain or bleeding. These are exceedingly rare. Immediate downtime after the procedure is about 1 week, with full results expected at about 2 to 4 weeks. Sutures are removed 7 days after the procedure.

What are the pros and cons of a mini facelift compared to minimally invasive facelifting or a full facelift?

By visualizing the structures of the face clearly, a mini-facelift can help to reverse the appearance of aging to achieve a youthful, natural look which lasts many years. Compared to minimally invasive procedures, a mini-facelift has greater longevity and accuracy, though downtime is a bit longer. On the other end of the spectrum, a full face and neck lift will usually require a general anaesthetic and involve a longer period of recovery. To decide which procedure is right for you, it is best to consult with a plastic surgeon who will perform a thorough assessment and discuss which procedure is best suited for you.
